A water bearer in China had two large pots, each hung on the ends of pole which he carried across his neck.. One of the pots had a crack in it, while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.

At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water to his house. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.

After 2 years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream.
"I am ashamed of myself, and because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."

The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, and I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you've watered them.

For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to  decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house"

Moral: Each of us has our own unique flaws. We're all cracked pots. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are, and look for the good in them. Blessings to all my crackpot friends!!

The module/component is ok, but need some improvement 2 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
1. categores are not sorted, need to order by "ordering".

2. at the calenda view, links and current date are highlighted with color. Maybe just bold is simpler for most of the theme

3. the header line of calenda is in h3 tag, which does not appear the same for IE and firefox.

4. the current month name in calenda is in full name, which is too long for Feburary. could you update it to short name?

5. not everyone uses mamblog. the "require" for mamblog fails the module in plain-installation. User have to comment out the "require" line themselves. please fix.

6. In the module SQL to mysql function DAY is used, which is not support for older version of MYSQL. changing to DAYOFMONTH will fix it.

6. com_blogsidebar uses "1 heading, 4 intro, 4 links, 2 coloumn" layout. Hope this could be configurable, or just uses the configuration from com_content.

Finally, thank you for the hard work.

Thank you very much Puzzlebird!! 2 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
1. categories are not sorted, need to order by "ordering".

Will do in next version!!

2. at the calenda view, links and current date are highlighted with color. Maybe just bold is simpler for most of the theme

Yes, I have that feature in BlogCal. I can extend it here as well.

3. the header line of calenda is in h3 tag, which does not appear the same for IE and firefox.

Yes. That is big issue. I like h3 tag which goes well for svtechie.com. I can make it configurable through module interface.

4. the current month name in calenda is in full name, which is too long for Feburary. could you update it to short name?

Yes, and again can be made configurable

5. not everyone uses mamblog. the "require" for mamblog fails the module in plain-installation. User have to comment out the "require" line themselves. please fix.

Oh, I forgot to remove that. Sorry and thanks for pointing out.

6. In the module SQL to mysql function DAY is used, which is not support for older version of MYSQL. changing to DAYOFMONTH will fix it.

Yes, I figured that today morning when somebody tried to install and it failed.

6. com_blogsidebar uses "1 heading, 4 intro, 4 links, 2 coloumn" layout. Hope this could be configurable, or just uses the configuration from com_content.

Yes, that is good idea.

Finally, thank you for the hard work.

Thanks and I appreciate your comments. please wait for next release. If you really need it now, I can speed it up but else if you can wait, that will be great!!

Thanks for positive reply. I have one more suggestion for improvement.

Currently when the module and compoent lists the available links or category, they does not consider user access level. For example, I set some category to be "registered" only, but they still appear on the category list for anonymous users. This is the same for the links on the calenda.

Though the users may actually denied access due to Joomla's access control, it is still better to hide the access, from my point of view.

So far so good. The module and componuents work well with SEF (amazingly). and i prefer waiting for your next release and giving a good rank at joomla extensiion site.

Tested for the new version. Good improvement. Here is the feedback.

1. The backend admin module does not work. There is no "save" or "cancel" button. There is also no configuration for sorting category.

2. The calenda title still show full name of month.

3. User access control seems not work.

Oh I missed it, XML file had typo and was not including toolbar files. And Backend admin interface was working in my view because I had local files there.

User Access Control should be working. Can you be more specific? About calendar having full name, it can be configurable!!

User Access Control works for all sections except in calendar... will be added support for this later.

Category ordering is based on Joomla Ordering.

I was wondering if it would be possible to add a Module Class Suffix option instead of just a DIV class suffix. It would enable quite a bit more CSS customization than is currently possible (and in the case of my site, it makes this extraordinarily useful module incompatible). Thanks!

Download Module release 2.5. It has more configurable features including module class.
