I posted a blog entry on Vote Bank Politics & Reservation and received following comment. Reply could have been posted in comment section there itself. But this issue is little bigger and complicated than it looks like, hence separate blog entry.

Thanx and nice to see some people agreeing. Saw ur posting also and would like to say one thing - R u afraid to take sides???? Isn't it time we stand tall and claim the rightful place under the sun. It's good to have Technical and academic discussions on ur site but there sud be no boundaries to the thinking process. These sites are true "freedom of speech & thought" and let's make full use of it. I strongly feel Technocrats have a greater responsibility to take the reins in there hand and correct the COURSE OF FUTURE. Do keep in touch though u may agree or not but ur opinion will always be respected.

Yes, I am afraid to take sides (without thinking) but about rightful place, we have to first determine, what that rightful place is.

Now Why I shouldn't take side?

World is not perfect place and things are not quantifiable as in black and white. As soon as one take sides (strongly), other side becomes manifestation of evil (in eyes of beholder) and enemy. We all know that world is nothing but a shades of contradictions and there is very thin (and shifting) line between right and wrong. Before taking any side, first we have to determine where that line is, and what is the right solution?

As mentioned before, I do not believe in the sides so here is my argument for other side Smile

Why I should take sides?

With taking sides comes the passion, sometime very positive and sometimes very negative. But this passion is what drives people to drive towards the solution. Passionate people (belonging to both sides) try to solve the problem and probably reach a solution which is a compromise solution (positive). Or they keep fighting and people die (negative).

Person, sitting in middle can not have that passion (usually) because passion is about feelings. Strong feeling means taking sides!!

Also it is more difficult to explain centrist position to general populace because this requires intense analysis. For example, in recent analysis, it was found that 60% population of USA is centrist but in  all presidential elections, both running candidates take stand on one side or other side. It is easier to define sides than center.. center is too confusing for general mass.

Bottom line, Technocrats have greater responsibility in this regard because we can analyze. So Lets Define First & Then Only Take Sides.

Which side I am on in regards to Vote Bank Politics & Reservation?

  • Indian Politics and System is too corrupt and we have to take action
  • On >49% reservation, I am against it.
  • But on "no" reservation, I have my reservations :)
