The Bhagavad Gita describes the mind as turbulent and obstinate. 'The Chariot of the Body': The five horses represent the five senses (tongue, eyes, nose, ears and skin). The rein symbolises the mind, the driver is the intelligence while the passenger is the spirit soul.

mindsenses

When the mind comes to rest, restrained by the practice of Yoga, and when beholding the Self, by the Self, he is content in the Self."  He who finds his happiness within, his delight within, and his light within, this yogi attains the bliss of Brahman, becoming Brahman."
** Please note, Brahman refers to person who has knowledge (Not in modern sense).. Somehow I had to make it clear!!
