Current U.S. engineering education is strong on software but lacking in hardware, often because teachers lack practical experience in hardware design, an industry executive asserted.
Thanh Tran, hardware productization manager for Texas Instruments Inc.'s Semiconductor Group in Houston, said in an interview here Monday (April 3) that many engineering students he encounters have good software skills.
