I am avid fans of Books and wanted to have exchange system with my friends. Also we wanted to share information about books, we have read. Hence, SVTechie.com Book Club.. A community based library system.

How does it work?

Once you join, simply enter the books that you want to rent out into our collection. For each book entered, you get one Credit Point. For each book, you rent to someone else you earn one extra Credit Point that can be used to request a book from our collection. To rent a book, two credit points are deducted. User can hold -ve points.

Ownership of books doesn't change in the system. Two parties may decide to exchange books and is beyond the scope of SVTechie.com. Credit system is just to regulate the system. Once books are returned, credit points of both parties are restored. 

How do I enter book?

You can enter book by clicking on menu item 'Enter new book'. You can choose to automatically download book information from Amazon Sites. Please indicate rent status and condition before you hit submit.

I do not want to rent ______ book but I would like to everybody know that it is really great book?

Just indicate no in rent option while entering the book.

How books are transferred/exchanged/shipped?

Any transfer of books between two parties is beyond SVTechie.com. SVTechie.com provides management of book club free of charge. If you know a person very well and locations are in same city, you may want to hand deliver/pick the book. However, in person transactions between unknown parties are discouraged because of security risks involved. Please proceed with caution

For US users shipping an item with the USPS:

Delivery Confirmation only costs an additional $.14 in postage. It is often cheapest to send your books using the Media Mail rate and disk media using First Class mail. Media Mail Rates starts at $1.59 and is great way to send books. 

How do I join?

This system works on trust. Review System and credit mechanism indicates activity of the user and can be looked at before making a transaction. SVTechie.com does not provide any guarantee. Before making any referral, existing user should make sure that referred user is well known by them.

You must be registered user of SVTechie.com. SVTechie.com members are free to browse around and still can use other features of SVTechie.com.. including book club of course!!

How do I request an Book?

Once you have found an book in the collection you would like to request, click on the book. You will see Lend Request button if book is available for rent. Please click on it and a lend request form will appear. Enter the information and hit submit. Your request will be submitted to owner.

How do I know when one of my items has been requested?

Once you log on into Book Club, you will see a menu item 'Manage Requests'. All incoming and outgoing requests will be shown under that link. You will also receive an email informing you that one of your items has been requested.

How do I respond to a request for one of my books?

Go to manage request page after you login to Book Club. Once you approve the transaction, you will receive your Credit Point. Once book is returned to you and you have accepted the return, credit point is deducted from your account.

What happens after book is approved?

After book is rented to user, book can be delivered in-person or by using USPS. 

I have finished reading the book, what to do next?

Please return the book to owner. Also go to manage request page to indicate that you have returned the book.

When I go to my Manage Request page, I see a book returned with a accept return request. What does it mean?

Accept Return is to allow owner to make sure that book is safely returned. So first wait for book to be returned. Once book is returned, accept the return to finish the transaction. At this point, credit points of both parties are re-stored.

I am from country ________, can I participate?

Yes! Our service is provided to anyone around the world. You can select which countries you are willing to ship to. Transaction within a city limits are easy to make and are encouraged.

Is there a limit to the number of requests I can make?

No, it is up to the owner of the book to approve the transaction.

How do I earn points?

How do I know how many points I have?

Once you have logged on, go to your profile to see your Credit Points.

How do I leave feedback/Review?

Go to book listing. Click on Book or User, you want to leave feedback for. There is review form with rating system. Please leave honest feedback, that's how Book Club works.

What happens if some user is cheating by not accepting the returns or by other means?

User will be banned once noticed by Admin. Meanwhile, You can leave feedbacks to indicate male-intent on part of user. Book Club Community will automatically be aware of such practice and will take corrective measures.
